![]() ![]() I got complacent about my math ability and just depended on Magoosh, which I regret doing. Though I did not use it, I would recommend the official quant book for sure. Another classic would be the traps on the compare AB questions, I had uncertainties with these questions since my intuition was to consider only bigger or smaller, leading me to neglect the possibility that AB could be equal. The actual exam, on the other hand, tricks you through complex consideration of possibilities, with a lot of Qs like: xy could be which of the following. The nature of trickery on Magoosh was more concept based to me, in that it tricked you through complex logic. In general I would say Magoosh is harder (it estimated a Q162-166 for me), but the sense of difficulty is different. Since I had a pretty good math background, I only watched a few Magoosh videos on topics i was unsure about, like percentile and probability. Hoping grad schools wouldn't care too much about the difference between 169 and 170. I was aiming for Q170 since i wanted to apply to top engineering schools, and I realized that not doing the official quant book was a bad decision on my part. for preparation on the quant I just did some magoosh questions and relied on the mock exam questions. I suspect that I might have made a dumb mistake, or fell into a trap on the compare AB questions. The factor of fatigue was definitely what affected me the most, since none of the ETS mock exams had an experimental section, I was not used to the exhaustion near the exam's end. I had gotten around Q170-169 on most of the practices I did, with the exception of powerprep 2 (felt too tired) and Magoosh. However, I feel none of these really captures the intensity and difficulty of the actual exam. Powerprep plus 1 and powerprep 2 felt quite similar in regards to difficulty of the quant section, and powerprep plus 3 felt harder to me than the both. I usually had around 10 minutes left for each quant section on these, but I had very little time left after finishing the Quant on today's test. Out of these, I felt that the 2 book mock exam and powerprep 1 quant was significantly easier than the real deal. I had done Magoosh, GRE book mock exam, 2 free powerpreps, powerprep plus 1 and 3. I had quant for experimental, but I couldn't tell which one it was since they were equally tricky. I had seen a couple post saying that quant had gotten harder recently, and I can attest that the quant on today's exam was indeed trying. ![]() Hi guys, took the GRE today and got Q169 V166, this subreddit has been really helpful so I wanted to share some info that I had trouble finding. ![]()
